About ACEG

The Association for Careers Education and Guidance has an Executive of five elected Officers and the General Secretary, responsible for the business management of the Association and the implementation of Association policy. The Executive is supported by up to eight Council members, also elected by members of the Association.

There is also a network of Local Contacts and National Consultants who are all experienced practitioners in careers education and guidance. Local Contacts act as a point of contact for members and, with the National Consultants, share the work of representing the Association at meetings and events. Local Contacts and National Consultants are also invited to attend meetings of the Consultative Council which meets at least three times per year and helps steer ACEG policy.

Recent Executive and Council activity
Following our December meeting with Iain Wright, the Under-Secretary of State at the DCSF, the Minister has offered to write an article for a forthcoming issue of our Journal. Sue Barr and Kath Wright have since also met up with Anna Paige, the newly appointed Deputy Director of the Young People's Participation and Attainment Group.

We continue to work with the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust on their 14 – 19 Workforce Support Programme.

We are working on a new QCDA project - Monitoring Careers Education and Information, Advice and Guidance 11-19. We are setting up a team of ACEG consultants to conduct research involving representative samples from at least 50 schools and colleges.

A further ACEG Executive meeting was held in London on 6 January and a Consultative Council meeting is scheduled for 23 January, in York.

We welcome any comments you may have about our work and membership services. Please send your comments to the General Secretary.
