Members' Services
The Association aims to meet the needs of its members through four main activities:
Support for professional development
In July each year the Association organises a conference on a topical theme relevant to careers education and
guidance and IAG. Council members are prominently involved in training courses throughout England and Wales. The Association provides support materials for members. It also promotes research activities, with this work co-ordinated by
designated Council members. The Association produces development briefings and
responds to topics of immediate concern to practitioners.

Lobbying at a national level to raise standards in CEG
and IAG
ACEG aims to influence government and other significant decision makers in the field of careers education and guidance through its meetings with the
DCSF and
other agencies. It maintains contacts with QCA, OFSTED, the
TDA and other professional associations, including the Institute of Career Guidance (ICG), Careers England and other European and international organisations. ACEG is an active participant in developing new initiatives with Careers Wales, the Welsh Assembly Government and the Qualifications, Curriculum and Assessment authority for Wales
(ACCAC).
Providing information and disseminating relevant initiatives
ACEG provides a high quality information service for its members. This service includes
five issues of the ACEG Journal and five Newsletters a year, as well as Occasional Papers, Position Papers and Updates. Publications of other professional bodies are occasionally distributed to members. The ACEG website offers copies of its publications and access to other
careers education and IAG websites.
Supporting members
The Association regularly reviews its strategies to provide an effective service to members and any comments you have about this will contribute to the ongoing review process. Please send your comments to the General Secretary.
